How We Build From Here

24-25 March ’22

‘How We Build from Here’ is the next instalment of INTBAU’s biennial World Congress.

By now we are all familiar with the statistic that the built environment is responsible for 39% of carbon emissions worldwide. The opportunity for the sector to affect change and have a positive impact is, in a word, enormous.

But what should be done? While numbers and percentages are good at indicating how we should react, they cannot suggest how we should act. On 24-25 March 2022, in London and online, INTBAU is inviting you to join the conversation on ‘How We Build from Here’, through two questions:

‘What With?’ and ‘Who For?’

Discussions will range across verb tenses, as speakers, panels, case studies, and participants suggest ways we can learn from the past to act in the present out of concern for the future.

Early-bird tickets for live and virtual attendance are now online for purchase. More event information will be made available soon.

‘Everything Old is New Again’, World Congress 2018

2018’s World Congress brought together delegates and speakers from across the world to London to discuss building, architecture, and urbanism.

Over three sessions, the Congress explored what appears to be a resurgence in the use of natural materials and traditional forms for buildings and places. Based on perspectives and case studies from around the world, speakers, panels, and audience discussed what could lie behind this resurgence.
