Caroline Stanford FSA has been the in-house research historian for buildings at risk charity the Landmark Trust since 2001. Landmark rescues significant historic buildings at risk and restores them for self catering holidays. It as a varied and still growing portfolio of more than 200 buildings, all available to anyone to book for a holiday. Caroline has been an active project team member in Landmark’s most challenging recent projects and understands the many hurdles to be overcome in delivering sustainable and creative new uses for difficult buildings left stranded in the modern era. Her talk will explain Landmark’s approach and highlight a few of Landmark’s most challenging restoration projects.
